Rep. Stephanie Barnard delivers a tribute to Presidents’ Day. Nic Scott reports from the state Capitol.

 Radio Report Transcript

SCOTT: Representative Stephanie Barnard of Pasco celebrated the legacies and achievements of Presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, urging her colleagues to draw inspiration from their leadership.

BARNARD: “How can we honor them – not merely with our words but by forging a future that embodies the very principles of freedom, liberty and justice for all. Let us honor them by carrying their torch forward in the spirit of that priceless heritage and unifying principles that forged and then healed our nation.”

SCOTT: Barnard said Washington and Lincoln lead us even today.

BARNARD: “A sacred devotion of natural rights. They are great leaders because they knew that although those rights are paramount, there value lies not in words – recorded on paper – but in a willingness to sacrifice so that liberty can be realized.”

SCOTT: House Resolution 4671 passed unanimously.

Nic Scott, the state Capitol.
