Making Washington affordable again

Affordability in Washington is declining due to the introduction of new taxes, fees, and regulations, coupled with a lack of tax relief. The implementation of the cap-and-trade program has significantly raised fuel, energy, and grocery prices. To alleviate the burden on Washingtonians, we need decisive action, including banning income taxes, repealing the long-term care payroll tax, and refunding a portion of the nearly $3.3 billion surplus tax dollars collected over the next four years to taxpayers.

Addressing public safety issues

Our communities continue to face significant challenges with chronic homelessness, addiction, crime, and untreated mental health needs. Unfortunately, several ineffective and destructive reform policies have made these problems worse. We need solutions now. Reinstating vehicular pursuit laws, enabling police to chase individuals involved in auto theft and other crimes, is one important step in the right direction. Additionally, we need to do more to protect victims and increase funding to local law enforcement agencies to hire more officers.

Delivering educational opportunities

Despite increased funding for public schools, too many students are falling behind. Declining national and state test scores underscore the urgent need for action. Legislative solutions, such as hiring more tutors and paraeducators, can improve outcomes, particularly in reading and math. Additionally, we need to support school choice by funding education savings accounts for low-income students, those eligible for special education, or attending persistently failing schools—ensuring all children have the opportunity to attend private school or homeschool, not just those with the financial means.
