Making Washington affordable again

Affordability in Washington has declined significantly due to new taxes, fees, and regulations. Worse yet, the cap-and-trade program has substantially increased fuel, energy, and grocery prices. To ease the burden on Washington residents, we must take decisive steps such as blocking income taxes, repealing the long-term care payroll tax, and finding ways to refund any surplus tax revenue to taxpayers.

Addressing public safety issues

Our communities continue to face significant challenges with chronic homelessness, addiction, crime, and untreated mental health needs. Unfortunately, several reform policies have exacerbated these problems. We need solutions now. The recent reinstatement of vehicular pursuit laws, which enables police to chase individuals involved in auto theft and other crimes, is an important step in the right direction. Additionally, we need to protect victims and increase funding for local law enforcement agencies to hire more officers.

Delivering educational opportunities

Despite increased funding for public schools, too many students are falling behind. Declining national and state test scores underscore the urgent need for action. Legislative solutions, such as hiring more tutors and paraeducators, can improve outcomes, particularly in reading and math. Additionally, we need to support school choice by funding education savings accounts for low-income students, those eligible for special education, and those attending persistently failing schools.
