About Rep. Stephanie Barnard

Stephanie Barnard was elected to the Washington State House of Representatives in 2022. A lifelong Washingtonian who lives in Pasco, she represents the 8th Legislative District, which includes portions of Benton and Franklin counties.

A small-business advocate and mother of six, Stephanie brings a practical, community-focused perspective to the Legislature. Her work is centered on strengthening Washington’s economy, supporting employers, expanding family-wage jobs, and making sure communities like those in the Tri-Cities have the tools they need to grow and thrive.

Stephanie serves as the ranking member of the House Technology, Economic Development, and Veterans Committee, where she works on issues tied to innovation, workforce development, economic opportunity, and support for those who have served our country. She also serves on the House Environment and Energy Committee, the House Rules Committee, and the House Capital Budget Committee.

Energy innovation is one of Stephanie’s leading policy priorities. She is the founder and chair of the Legislative Nuclear Energy Caucus and the founder of the Western States Advanced Nuclear Consortium, where she works with leaders across state lines to advance reliable, affordable, and clean energy solutions. She is also a member of the National Conference of State Legislatures’ Nuclear Workgroup and serves on the board of the National Caucus of Environmental Legislators.

In addition to her committee work, Stephanie serves on the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Committee, co-chairs the governor’s Women’s Commission, serves on the State Broadband Equity Commission, is a Pacific NorthWest Economic Region delegate, and serves on the lieutenant governor’s Joint Legislative Committee on Civic Health.

Before joining the Legislature, Stephanie led government affairs for the Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce. In that role, she worked closely with local businesses, community leaders, and policymakers to build support for key public policy issues. She also helped lead government-related projects through the Tri-Cities Legislative Council and Local Government Affairs Committee.

Stephanie is also active in her community. She serves on the Support, Advocacy, and Resource Center and Columbia Ability Alliance boards, and volunteers with B5.

Stephanie remains rooted in the community she serves and committed to making sure the Tri-Cities region has a strong voice in Olympia and a stronger future ahead.
