Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I’d like to personally invite you to a joint in-person town hall this Saturday, May 31, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Columbia Basin College in Pasco. Lawmakers from the 8th and 16th legislative districts will be there to hear directly from you, answer your questions, and talk about what happened during the 2025 legislative session.

There’s a lot to cover. A few days ago, Gov. Bob Ferguson signed a series of new tax increases and spending bills that will cost working Washingtonians more than $12.5 billion. That includes higher business and occupation taxes, a new sales tax on services, and an expanded capital gains tax—plus deep budget cuts to programs that actually help people, such as support for foster children, financial aid, and hospitals.

Despite campaign promises about “affordability” and “reform,” the governor greenlit the largest tax increase in our state’s history while endorsing budget gimmicks that kick the financial can down the road. We need to talk about what that means for you and what comes next.

Town Hall Details:

When: Saturday, May 31 | 1–3 p.m.
Where: Columbia Basin College, Gjerde Center (H-Building, near the North H parking lot)
Address: 2600 N. 20th Ave., Pasco, WA 99301

We’ll cover key topics like taxes, state budgets, energy policy, housing, education, and more. Joining me are my colleagues:

Bring your questions, invite a neighbor, and be part of the conversation. I’m proud to represent you, and I look forward to seeing you this weekend.

It’s an honor to serve you!

Sincerely,

Stephanie Barnard
