Coram Deo Academy student serves as House page for Rep. Stephanie Barnard
Abigail Grimm, a student at Coram Deo Academy, recently completed a week of service as a legislative page in the Washington State House of Representatives. Under the sponsorship of Rep. Stephanie Barnard, R-Pasco, Abigail gained firsthand experience with the state’s legislative process.
“Abigail was an enthusiastic and dedicated page, and I truly appreciated her contributions this week,” said Barnard. “Her curiosity about state government and strong work ethic made her a great addition to our team.”
During her time at the Capitol, Abigail participated in a variety of legislative activities, including delivering documents between offices, assisting with House floor proceedings, and attending page school to deepen her understanding of the legislative process.
Outside of school, Abigail, 15, enjoys painting, sketching, and spending time with friends.
“The House Page Program provides students with an incredible opportunity to engage with their government in a meaningful way,” said Barnard. “I hope this experience inspires Abigail to continue exploring public service and civic engagement.”
The House Page Program runs throughout the legislative session, which this year takes place from Jan. 13 to April 27. Students between the ages of 14 and 16 are eligible to apply, receive a daily stipend of $65, and can earn up to 20 hours of community service. Financial assistance is available through the Gina Grant Bull Memorial Legislative Page Scholarship.
