Rep. Stephanie Barnard’s legislative update: Respite care, energy, and parental rights

Rep. Stephanie Barnard, R-Pasco, shares key updates from Olympia. She is prioritizing House Bill 1344, which expands respite care access for individuals with disabilities and their caregivers by removing administrative barriers and increasing available options. She also highlights House Bill 1406 to improve economic transparency, House Bill 1819 to strengthen energy transmission infrastructure, and House Bill 1824 to support maternal and infant healthcare.

Barnard also warns about House Bill 1296, which seeks to roll back parental rights affirmed by Initiative 2081. With an emergency clause blocking voter input, the bill threatens transparency in education. HB 1296 is expected to be debated and voted on soon. If you oppose it, call the legislative hotline at 1-800-562-6000.
